Join the Stowe Center for Literary Activism for the opening of What does it mean to be Human?, a new exhibition by artist Amanda Mendoza in collaboration with researcher Gamze Ozker.
Through intimate and reflective works, Mendoza examines what it means to be seen as human within systems that determine whose rights are protected and whose are denied. Partnering with Ozker, the exhibition uses art to explore how compassion and dignity are lost—and reclaimed—through struggles for human rights.
Program Highlights:
- Remarks from Amanda Mendoza, and Gamze Ozker, and Erika Slocumb
- Community discussion circle in the gallery
- Light refreshments
