On December 17, 2025, we celebrated the first cohort of students to complete our archive research certification program at the Stowe Center Holiday Party. Five students were able to join us along with their families.
The students processed down the staircase at the Day House to meet Donald Curtis, Library Media Specialist at Hartford Public High School, and Cat White, our Director of Historic Collections, to receive their certificates. They were radiating with joy!

The Stowe Center's archive certification program provides students with the foundational skills necessary to pursue roles in the archival field. Kasiyanna Henry, a senior at Hartford Public High School, reflected on her experience in the Stowe Archive:
"It opens your eyes to all the history that Hartford has, and all the history we have as a whole, and how we can all come together and find new experiences that help us build our knowledge of what to expect—what was happening in the past, but also how that past can help shape our future. It was really fun!"
The archive certificate program is made possible by generous supporters through Stowe on the Go. Stowe on the Go provides hands-on archival learning that supports career exploration, student engagement in history and civics, and college preparation through real-world research skills.
