Support our Education Programs
At Stowe Center, we encourage students of all ages to see themselves in history and as change-makers in our own historic moment. We offer tours of Stowe's Hartford home, a National Historic Landmark, and programs like Stowe on the Go where ideas turn into inspiration and positive change.
Contact us about how you can help provide access to our educational programs.
Support Harriet's Backyard
You can help the Stowe Center for Literary Activism preserve and enhance the lawn and gardens we refer to as Harriet's Backyard. After consulting with community members in a series of focus groups, the Stowe Center embarked on a plan to make our unique urban green space more accessible with sensory and native-plant gardens, a meandering path, and meditation and contemplation seating areas. Please consider contributing to our efforts to create a common space for our neighbors, tourists, and local visitors by contributing today.
Contact us to learn more about how you can bring Harriet's Backyard from private to public.
Support the Stowe Prize for Literary Activism
The Stowe Prize for Literary Activism recognizes the author of a distinguished book of general fiction or nonfiction whose written work illuminates a critical social issue in the tradition of Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin. Each year, the Stowe Center welcomes these extraordinary authors to the historic Nook Farm neighborhood to celebrate their work and uplift the uniquely American tradition of literary activism.
Funds raised for the Stowe Prize help sustain the mission of the Stowe Center to encourage social justice and literary activism, preserve the unique collections and grounds, and support our innovative programming.
