A Teteo is a Dominican slang for a lively party!

HARTFORD, Conn.– The Stowe Center for Literary Activism is pleased to announce a dynamic, family-friendly event held on Saturday, May 16 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM on the Stowe Center Lawn, 77 Forest Street, Hartford, CT.

Join us for a teteo—a Dominican slang word for a lively party—as the Stowe Center for Literary Activism’s art exhibit closes: What does it mean to be Human? An exhibition that explores that it means to be recognized as a human within systems that determine whose rights are protected and whose are denied.

Expect a community car show in collaboration with Rad Stallions, showcasing vehicles from local enthusiasts alongside music, dancing, and casual games like dominos and cards. The event also offers arts and crafts activities for all ages, a variety of food vendors including Los Chamos Street Food and Pika Food Truck, and opportunities to connect with local organizations hosting informational tables. Sponsored by Xtreme Rides.

Date: Saturday, May 16

Time: 12:00 – 4:00 PM

Location: Stowe Center Lawn

In collaboration with:

Rad Stallions, Make the Road Connecticut, Xtreme Rides

Families and visitors of all ages are welcome. Registration is not required, but recommended.

The Stowe Center encourages social justice and literary activism by exploring the legacy of Harriet Beecher Stowe and all who advocate hope and freedom—then and now. We envision a world in which engagement leads to empathy, empowerment, and change for good.
